We’ve taken to picking up such waste to feed to our goats. It saves the city (or the landowners) the trouble of hauling it away, and it diverts the waste to keep it out of the landfill.
Yesterday’s score: a big limb from a maple tree, a bunch of branches from a fallen cottonwood, and two bushels of fallen apples. Our goats are very pleased. And green waste is better for them than grain or alfalfa.
