The USDA, famous under recent previous administrations for making like difficult for small farmers, has come out with a program called, “Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food.” Its purpose is to promote local food, and a partnership between consumers and farmers.
Of course, the money USDA administers still goes to mega-corporations, giving them a financial advantage over the neighborhood farm. But at least this demonstatres a slight change in thinking that may someday make its way back to Congress.
