Premonitions of Winter

green tomatoes 20090929 002
There’s a storm blowing in tonight on a cold front.  Lows are supposed to be around 23 (and we’re usually 5 – 10 degrees colder than predicted), with a possibility of rain and snow.  Snow!

We picked the last of our summer crops today, including a couple of gallons of green tomatoes.  That’s more than all the ripe ones we’ve gotten this year.  The good news is, green tomatoes will ripen over time.  The bad news is, there’s no denying it: summer is over.
