Jackrabbit Ranch “Cheese News” #1

“Age is something that doesn’t matter, unless you are a cheese.” –Luis Buñuel

Hi Everyone!

Here’s the first edition of Jackrabbit Ranch “Cheese News.”  We’ve had some exciting news this week!

  • Our web store is now operational.  You can order cheeses for UPS Ground delivery, or for pickup at our ranch, or for delivery to your home (a $5 charge applies for delivery).  For the summer, we’re also offering pickup at the farmer’s market.  Order what you need, then come to the farmer’s market in Cedar City on Saturday for pickup!  (Be sure to check the schedule to see which farmers market we’ll be at.)
  • You can now buy our cheese at the health food store in Cedar City: Sunshine Nutrition located at 111W 535S, across from Deseret Industries.  They have our Cow Milk Brie and our Goat Milk Feta, as well as Chevre and our Jalapeno and Dill soft cheeses.
  • Our soft cheeses are also available at Cedar Nut & Candy Company, 1155W 200N (next to Burger King), also in Cedar City.  We’re completely sold out of our very-popular Rosemary-Garlic Neufchatel and the “Light My Fire” Habanero Neufchatel.  We’ll make more in early August.  Meanwhile, when I visited this week, Cedar Nut & Candy Company still had both available!
  • This coming Saturday, July 24, we’ll be at two farmer’s markets:  I’ll be at the farmer’s market in Springdale from 9:00 – 11:30 am. Suellen will be at the Cedar City Farmer’s Market located at Ogden Carpets, 2232 N. Main Street, from 9:00 – Noon.  We’ll both have Jalapeno soft cow cheese, Chevre (soft goat cheese), Goat Milk Feta, and Cow Milk Brie.  There are a few Dill soft cow cheeses also.  Suellen will have those in Cedar City.
  • Next week, I’ll be at Christmas in July, on the lawn at 300 W University Blvd., Cedar City.  I’ll be there 11:00am to 7:00pm on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31.  Suellen will be at the opening day of the Ladybug Nursery Farmers Market, 42 S Westview Drive, Cedar City.  She’ll be there from 9:00 – Noon.
  • We have cheese scheduled to come out of the cave next week: Farmstead Jack, Tome, Cow Milk Feta, and a soft, bloomy-rind cheese we’re calling Nuage – French for “cloud”.  Sometimes cheeses need to age longer to achieve the right flavor.  But with any luck, we’ll have some of these at both Christmas in July and Ladybug.
  • We’ve has lots of requests for blue cheese, so we’ve started a soft blue cheese that should be ready by the end of August!

Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement.  We appreciate it!
