Sassy, short for Sassafras, was born March 16 with a severe cleft palate. She was challenged from the beginning, being unable to nurse. We knew that her odds weren’t all that great.
Of course she gained a special place in our hearts. She was sweet and loving. And, we seem to get most attached to the ones that require the most attention.
Tonight we had to say goodbye. Her struggle is over, but she leaves us in sadness.
I am so sorry. You did everything you could for her.
Sassy was surrounded with love. I know she realized that and that made her short life very happy. Many animals do not have that experience.
