Summer Jam Is This Week – Pass It On!

This Friday and Saturday is Summer Jam, a free rock music event organized by BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse). It’s held in the park in Cedar City, the same location as Groovefest. Among the performers will be Crippled Stripper (above) and a dozen or so other bands. It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun!

So why doesn’t anyone know about Summer Jam? The Cedar City website has a link to last year’s event, but nary a mention of the 2010 Summer Jam. And I haven’t been able to find an event web page, either, though I found a MySpace page for last year’s event (many of the bands will be the same, so this is a great resource to hear them). An internet search did turn up this article at IndependentPublishing.com– not exactly one of the major outlets.

When I tell people we’ll be selling cheese at Summer Jam, they all ask me, “What’s Summer Jam? Where is it held?” So far, not one has known of the event’s existence.

Is this a case of poor promotion by the event organizers? Small town politics? Who knows.

I do know that there’s going to be a two-day concert this week– and we’ll be there selling cheese. Pass it on!
