More Stitches

When we returned from the farmers markets yesterday, we were met with a bit of drama here at home.  One of our doelings named Siouxie (after Siouxie and the Banshees) had torn her eyelid.  Sati did the same thing last year and had to have it stitched.  We don’t know how they manage it – probably barbed wire – but we have learned that eyelids are nothing to mess with.  So we called the vet, who told us to bring Siouxie over.  Sure enough, it required sedation and stitches… and three days of penicillin shots to keep infection away.

The eyelid didn’t seem to bother Siouxie, but without a proper eyelid her eye could later become damaged (not that we have any blowing dust, dirt, or vegetation here in Utah – lol).  She didn’t think much of the vet visit, but she seems not to notice her stitches.  In two weeks, we’ll take the stitches out and her eyelid should be as good as new.
