New baby goat has a name

Kerry’s little girl  has a name.

Meet Echo.  We gave her this name because she echos Moms spot. Also she takes her name seriously and echos her spot on both sides.
We will not be naming  Kerry’s little boy because giving him a name would make it harder to sell him                                                                                     (Brigette Adams Photos)

Sassy: March 16, 2010 – August 16, 2010

(Brigette took this photo of Sassy last week.)
Sassy, short for Sassafras, was born March 16 with a severe cleft palate.  She was challenged from the beginning, being unable to nurse.  We knew that her odds weren’t all that great.
Of course she gained a special place in our hearts.  She was sweet and loving.  And, we [...]

New Babies

Kerry is the last of the pregnant girls this year, so there won’t be any more babies until [...]

I [...]

Guy at Jackrabbit Ranch

(Suellen Hockey Photo)
We were going to walk in the 4th of July parade and take Guy, but he was coughing. DJ thought we should have Guy wear rabbit ears in the parade. I don’t think it would look right. Rabbit ears provided by Photobucket.

Peach Trees Can Be Toxic to Goats

Goats love trees, and we love to give them trees.  But as folks around town trim their fruit trees, it’s worth noting that the leaves of stone fruit trees such as peaches, plums, and apricots can be toxic to goats.
According to this information sheet by the National Agricultural Library, as the leaves of these trees [...]

Bottle feeding

We tried bottle feeding Willow last night and she chewed on the the nipple a little.  I think she was to upset because we had put her in with the other kids. A couple kids started picking on her because she is new and younger. We decided to put her and Sassy in a separate space. Sassy doesn’t [...]
